Heavensphere luxury sock yarn is exclusive to The Yarn Cafe and has been created especially for us. Each 100g skein has approximately 425 metres.
Heavensphere is available in its natural shade and in different colours as part of the Shades of Heavensphere series. This is a limited series of hand-dyed yarns produced by independent dyers on a monthly basis. Each shade has been produced for a maximum of 10 skeins.
"Coventry Blue" is the sixth of the series and has been produced for us by Natural Born Dyers. It has been dyed with natural plant dyes in the colour of Coventry, where The Yarn Cafe are based.
Natural Born Dyers are a small indie-dying business set up in early 2010 to offer high quality yarns and fibres dyed with natural dyes which we extract from plants.
They aim to offer a more environmentally-friendly alternative to chemically dyed yarn and fibre. To achieve this they use dyes from plants that they grow ourselves, harvest locally from sustainable sources or purchase in dried form from UK suppliers. They use these to dye quality yarns and fibre which, where possible, are from British sources.
The name "Heavensphere" is inspired by the beautifully soft texture of the yarn and the fact that the fleece originates in the Southern Hemisphere.
